Roy R. Casiano, MD, American Rhinologic Society, Pan-American Rhinology International Visiting Scholar (IVS) Endowment

Your charitable gift to the Roy R. Casiano, MD, American Rhinologic Society, Pan-American Rhinology Endowment will support the annual award of an IVS, named in honor of the commitment of Dr. Casiano, the American Rhinologic Society, and Pan-American Rhinology to pursuing excellence in the practice of rhinology.

This IVS will be awarded to a meritorious international otolaryngologist from Latin America, enabling him/her to participate in the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO EXPOSM and engage in a two-week observership at a U.S. Center of Excellence.





The AAO-HNS foundation’s Roy R. Casiano, MD, American Rhinologic Society Pan-American Rhinology International Visiting Scholar (IVS) Endowment honors the commitment of Dr. Casiano, the American Rhinologic Society, and Pan-American Rhinology to pursuing excellence in the practice of rhinology and encourage the interchange of medical knowledge and experience to improve the quality of life of patients in Latin America.

We thank you for considering this invitation to honor Dr. Casiano and make a difference for years to come by investing in the future of young international otolaryngologists from Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries from North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean.

Roy R. Casiano, MD has developed an international reputation as a recognized expert in the field of rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery. Dr. Casiano directs one of the most world-renowned fellowship training programs in the country. He has mentored almost 80 otolaryngology residents and 13 rhinology and endoscopic skull base fellows to date. Most of Dr. Casiano’s past fellows are currently serving as academic rhinologists and division chiefs at various academic medical centers throughout the country; NYU, UConn., Rutgers/NJ Med College, Wayne State, Temple, New York Eye and Ear, Univ. of Miami, to name a few. Currently, Dr. Casiano trains two fellows per year, one domestic and one international, and frequently is invited as a guest speaker to numerous national and international meetings. Dr. Casiano’s clinical and research interests have resulted in more than 120 peer reviewed research publications, book chapters, or textbooks in the area of rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery.

In 1992, Dr. Casiano developed a unique 1-month International Pan American Rhinology “Minifellowship” Program at the University of Miami, which has trained many young international otolaryngologists (mostly from Latin America and Spain) to perform endoscopic sinonasal and skull base surgery. This program rotates 2 young otolaryngologists per month through the University of Miami’s cadaver lab, OR's, and clinics. Since 1992 hundreds of international otolaryngologists have been trained in endoscopic transnasal surgical techniques, and many are current leaders in their field of Rhinology in Latin America and Spain. Currently, this program remains popular throughout Latin America and Spain, and remains booked 20 months in advance.

Dr. Casiano is an active member of the American Rhinological Society, American Academy of Otolaryngology--Head and Neck Surgery, American College of Surgeons, and Pan-American Association of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. Inducted as a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology in 1988, he continues to actively participate in numerous national committees of AAO-HNS, the American Rhinologic Society, and the North American Skull Base Society.
